Florida’s rental crunch


For 30% of renters in Florida, their rent check eats up more than half their monthly income – making it the most rent-burdened state in the country.

Statewide, rent burdens are increasing due to a combination of a fast growing population, a tourist-driven economy that pays workers less than in other big states,  soaring land prices and a construction market focused primarily on luxury buildings rather than affordable homes.

The Make Room campaign aims to build awareness of rising rent and motivate our leaders to provide viable solutions to protect the economic future of renters.
