Interactive map: Millennials are opting for roommates

More 25-34 year olds are living with housemates than 8 years ago.

Millennials entered the job market in the wake of the recession and continue to face serious economic stress. Many have delayed major life decisions, such as buying a house, getting married and having children. As a result, some have opted to have roommates later in life: The number of 25 to 34 year olds living with housemates shot up by 39 percent between 2005 and 2013 – a period in which the population in that age bracket grew by 7 percent.
