Making room in small towns
Jennifer Ellis is a single mother who lives in Erie, Pennsylvania with her son, Dylan. Jennifer finds solace in her work as a caregiver, but coming “home” always leaves Jennifer with a sense of dread. The constant stress of juggling between paying the rent and other bills, such as utilities, gas and food leaves Jennifer with no money at the end of the month. “Everyday I come home and get out of the car, and I drag myself through the door,” said Jennifer.
As new leadership is headed to D.C. and statehouses across the country, we must demand that the rental housing crisis be solved and help families like Jennifer and Dylan to create some semblance of stability, rather than stress.
